São Tomé and Príncipe Opens The Books On Its First Year Of Citizenship By Investment

The São Tomé and Príncipe Citizenship by Investment Unit has released its First Year Report, covering what the program processed in its first twelve months and what it intends to change in its second.
The First Year Scorecard
The Unit reports 548 applications received, 350 applications approved, and citizenship granted to 117 families. The program generated more than USD 9.8 million for the National Transformation Fund.
Use Of Proceeds: The National Transformation Fund Priorities
According to the Unit, the National Transformation Fund supports investment in energy infrastructure, water quality and supply, wastewater systems, waste management, and the digitalization of public services.
International Reach: 72 Different Countries Across Five Regions
In its first year the program received applications from 72 different countries across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. A spread that wide carries a matching spread of document formats, verification routes and translation requirements.
For firms comparing investment migration options, tools such as the GAMI Mobility Index can be used as a comparative resource across various programs, based on criteria most important to the individual.
Year Two: What Changes Next
Entering its second year, the Unit says it will strengthen processes, uphold rigorous standards of compliance and due diligence, and improve the speed of post-approval citizenship document issuance. That last commitment sets how long the wait runs between an approval and documents in hand.
